Following the recent successful launch of our Exeter premises Walter H. Squires & Son require an experienced and highly motivated funeral director to assist in the running of their successful family business.

The position requires a truly dedicated professional as our reputation, which we highly value, has been achieved through hard work, loyalty, integrity and commitment to the company’s good name and values.

The successful candidate will be expected to work to the highest standard in order to meet the high expectations of the families we are privileged to care for. The successful candidate will also be required to share on-call duties (currently one week on, three weeks off) and assist in running the offices, mortuaries and workshops.

A holder of the N.A.F.D. Diploma in Funeral Directing would be preferred, but is not essential. Salary will be in the region of £25,000.00, further enhancements and relocation packages will be considered for the right candidate.

This is a very demanding position, and will not suit someone who dreams of a peaceful, idyllic life in Devon, or a Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. career. Our company is extremely busy and extremely demanding but this has resulted in us becoming one of Devon's most respected funeral directors, and we will not allow our reputation to be compromised.

Excellent computer skills are essential, as are communications skills and customer service skills. The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a team, as well as under their own initiative.
